Back From the City

*Taken from top of Empire State Building.

If there's one thing I learned from the past week I've spent in New York City, it's that the more people surrounding you, the less you care about your personal image. At least, that's the way I felt while being the typical tourist in Time's Square, Chinatown, Ellis Island and so forth. Nobody treats you like an outcast. You actually are the majority here. They'll beg and plead for your business and if you look lost, there's bound to be one generous soul around to help you find your way - There was the many times we were.

From the towering skyscrapers to miniature brownstones, Harlem to Battery Park and Chinatown to Chelsea I completely agree with what Jay-Z and Alicia Keys wrote:

In New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothin' you can't do
Now you're in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Let's hear it for New York, New York,
New York

Personally, I believe everyone should spend time in the city at some point in their life. It's an experience different from any other in the world. I cant wait to return. I look forward to making my way back to the Big Apple and, hopefully, it will be as a college student at CUNY's Hunter College.
