The Pleasure is Mine

Throw up a smile, put a hand out and say hello. Introducing yourself to a new friend is that easy and, in my opinion, one of the most essential connections we make every day. Having a healthy social life enables you to be more open about your own life; about your journeys, stories, emotions and many more experiences we go through in our lives.

For instance, just last night I met two completely new faces and had vastly different experiences with both. With the first, we spent a never ending car ride filled with tiresome small talk and continuous awkward silences followed by a movie in which they weren't even enjoying. On the other hand, with the second new friend, we spent hours together driving to and from Denver, adventuring to an ice cold hot tub and spending the rest of the night in their basement; not once an awkward silence or gap in conversation. We've begun a great friendship (and possibly more.)

I'm not one to regret things in my past and most people would probably say "Oh, I completely regret that first encounter," but I believe we have every experience and connection (or lack of) for a reason. That not-so-great first meeting gave me not only another notch in the belt of interaction, but also something to talk about to other relationships.

That's what it's all about; that is what the true meaning of life is (again, in my opinion from my experience). To continuously build, nurture and expand relationships throughout your life. Without other people by your side, I guarantee you won't reach your full potential, and consequently, your dreams and goals. We all need a little push or shoulder from a friend at times. Because in the end, when you feel nothing's going right, you're in a pit and can't get out and you feel that nothing can get you through the hardest of times - You will always have someone by your side to help pull you out.
